Expensive wedding

!!This will be the expensive wedding so far!!

Who : Sahara Chief Subrata Roy's sons' double wedding

Where: Lucknow

Cost :₹552 crore

The weddings of Subrata Roy’s sons, Sushanto with Richa and Seemanto with Chandini took place at the Sahara Auditorium in Lucknow in 2004. The wedding dresses were from famous designers like Rohit Bal and Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The venue was luxuriously decorated with mashals , torch lights, wax lights and prism glasses. There were 110 types of dishes from across the world. Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kapil Dev, Anil Ambani, along with several other famous celebrities were present at the event.

My opinion is that a marriage is to show their status in the society. Nowadays many thinks that spending so much on something makes them feel happy and satisfied. This attitude starts from a small item to great things like marriages.
Whats your opinion on spending this much on a single wedding?

  1. yes, I also feel the same. Now a days it is the trend to spend money in wedding function by decorating the marriage hall with gold and other expensive things. People feel it as pride to spend money in these.

  2. I have been trying to understand the reasons why people get into debt by spending lavishly on weddings celebrations. And no, I am not talking about those those weddings where grooms get BMW’s as dowry gifts from the girls side or the girl’s family flies in flamenco dancers from Spain, and fresh orchids from Thailand.

I am talking about the poor and the middle classes who spend money they don’t have. One wedding can set a man back by a decade as he struggles to repay the loan he has taken for his daughter’s wedding.

It’s disturbing to see that this trend of spending on weddings is not showing any signs of letting up. During our parents time, even if it was the girls family which did the spending, the weddings were simpler. Today, ostentatiousness has become a trend in urban India.

Indian weddings have always been special occasions, celebrated with zest, enthusiasm, and, in the case of the wealthy, elaborate settings and food. But as a growing economy pumps new wealth into the country, weddings have turned into veritable showpieces…times have changed….the festive spirit has taken on a more ostentatious flavor as weddings become occasions for India’s rapidly growing affluent classes to show off their new wealth.

  3. In my point of view, spending too much money on wedding is one kind of wasting money in a day.Earning money in years and spending it in a day that too mostly in marriages.Because we doesn't know what are all the wastes in marriages. It might be wasting food,etc..,Inspite of spending money in it we can help the needy.Entertaining guests with a great meal and entertainment is plenty so there is no need to spend money on wedding favours. The majority of couples end up paying more for their wedding than they had originally budgeted for them. And what my point is spending more money on marriages is not good.Because some people will get jealous on their weddings(for spending lot money in it)and some might be sad of their dressings, there are many things like that which we may not know.So don't hurt others.Think of that and spend it in a right way.
